Description
The STD Application
Haglöf Sweden’s Geo 2 instruments are designed for field measurements across various terrains and climates. They feature long-range laser distance measurement, integrated tilt and compass sensors for accurate 3D data, with results shown on an internal head-up display and large external LCD.
The Vertex Laser Geo 2 model also includes ultrasonic distance tech for dense forests and circular plots. Without software, the instruments can’t function; hence, the Geo 2 comes with the comprehensive STD application. This app includes features from previous models plus new ones like remote diameter measurement. Licensed to Geo 2 hardware, it is provided free with purchase.
The STD application covers most measurement needs for forests and other areas.
Function Description
- HEIGHT 3P Three-point height measurement: Measure the distance and angles to the object, then only the angles to the bottom and top.
Remote Diameter function available by rotating the instrument 90 degrees clockwise. - HEIGHT 1P One-point height measurement: Press the ON button to measure distance, angles, and height. Ensure it is on the same horizontal plane as the target.
Remote Diameter function available by rotating the instrument 90 degrees clockwise. - HEIGHT DME Measures height using ultrasound in two steps: first, the distance and angle to a transponder; second, the angle to the top. Available only with Vertex Laser Geo 2.
Remote Diameter function available by rotating the instrument 90 degrees clockwise. - 3D VECTOR Calculates distance, angle, and azimuth between two points in 3D space for remote measurements of height, width, and slope.
- COMPASS Measures and displays compass direction (azimuth).
- ANGLE Measures angle by aligning sight with target location or remotely using 3D vector function.
- MAP TARGET 3D mapping of large targets like buildings and piles. Supports 2D area calculations for clear-cuts or large parking lots.
- MAP TRAIL Surveys trails, roads, cable car systems. Collects target coordinates using laser or ultrasonic methods with slope and azimuth data. Useful in areas with compromised GPS accuracy.
- LINE CLEAR Determines if trees can fall over a power line or if a branch is too close. Calculates minimum theoretical distance from a tree or branch to a power line, road, or other object.
- DELTA HGT Estimates height difference between a point on an imaginary line connecting two fixed positions and a third point. Useful for determining the lowest sag of a power line.
Upgrades
Users can upgrade the STD application in the Geo 2 instruments whenever new versions are released.
